Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral for Treatment (SBIRT)

Date: 06/28/2016

Effective immediately the certification of providers who cannot enroll and bill as independent providers will be attested to by the billing and/or employing provider. This affects individuals who are employed by facilities or provider groups such as hospitals, home health agencies, etc. The billing facility and/or group must attest that they will only bill for Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral for Treatment (SBIRT) for Alcohol and Drug Use services, if the employee (for example an RN working for a home health agency) has met the training and certification requirements. These facilities and/or groups must not bill for any individual who has not met the training and certification requirements. Information on SBIRT services, training and qualifications can be found at www.kdads.ks.gov/provider-home/provider/sbirt.

In order to be reimbursed for these services, an attest form must be on file for the rendering provider. Claims not billed appropriately will be denied. Providers may request a copy of the attest form at providerrelationsks@cenpatico.com. Should you have additional questions, please contact Customer Service at 866-896-7293.
